How to Create an Easy Popsicle Stick Puzzle for Toddlers
This puzzle is fun for kids and only takes a couple of minutes to make!
Things you will need:
- Craft glue
- Popsicle sticks
- A few simple pictures from magazines (i.e. animals, plants or simple objects that capture the child's attention)
- Imagination and creativitiy!
Step 1: Choose a simple photo from a magazine and cut it out. This should be something educational or fun that captures the child's interest. It should be a simple image, otherwise the puzzle may be too difficult for their age level.
Step 2: Take one popsicle stick and trace around it, either vertically or horizontally, until you have created several "pieces" to be glued onto your popsicle sticks.
Step 3: Cut out the pieces and glue them onto the popsicle sticks, one by one.
Step 4: Mix up the popsicle sticks.
Step 5: Puzzle is now ready to be put together by your favorite toddler!
Tips:
**Store puzzle pieces in a plastic baggie and keep all puzzles in a box or drawer so the pieces do not get lost or mixed in with other puzzles.
**Older children can practice cutting with child scissors, as well as tracing, using this craft. It's helpful in teaching them fine motor skills!
**You can create as many puzzles, with as many pieces, as you want! The sky is the limit =)
